Medtronic created Lifepak CR Plus automated external defibrillator (AED) for the first person at the scene of a sudden cardiac arrest to use. Designed for the minimally trained rescuer, the semi automatic CR Plus requires just three steps to give a potentially lifesaving defibrillation shock while the fully automatic CR Plus requires just two steps.

The latest Adaptiv biphasic technology automatically adjusts the energy based upon the patient’s needs while the internal computer analyzes the hearts rhythm, making it possible for individuals without medical training to deliver potentially lifesaving treatment.

The lightweight power system can deliver 20-30 full shocks and is easy to recharge. Quik-Pak pacing/defibrillation/ECG electrodes enable rapid access, incorporating a unique easy pull handle system with written and graphic prompts. The electrodes are compatible with all devices and connectors that can use ‘Quik-Combo’ electrodes.

The device stores ECG data for wireless transmission through an infrared (IrDA) port to a personal computer. This method of data storage and transmission is the most innovative idea in current AED technology and eliminates the need for data cards.

The Lifepak 500 is designed to be used by first responders to cardiac emergencies. This affordable rugged device is extremely portable at only 3.2kg and it’s intuitive operation makes it suitable for people who use the unit infrequently.

Features include pre-connected QUIK-COMBO electrodes that save valuable time on-scene and are compatible with other Lifepak defibrillators, clear concise voice prompting for for defibrillation and CPR; LCD for text messages, shock count, CPR time and real time clock.

The choice of 2 or 3 button operation allows the Lifepak 500 to meet the needs of responders with a variety of training and expertise levels. Automatic self-testing saves time and improves testing consistency.

ECG data is stored digitally within the device for maximum durability and simplicity. Incident data can be conveniently transmitted from the unit to medical control via modem. CODE SUMMARY ™ reports can be printed directly to a standard printer for rapid access to information. PC software allows efficient review and storage of data and integration with other pieces or equipment.
